On my birthday, I was happy and a bit sad. I rode home on the Gold Line, getting off at Allen Station, with a fast strut. As I was crossing the street, a Pasadena Community College student stopped me and asked if I would a model for his photo class. I said to him, why are you choosing me? I’m old. I’m 44 today.

He looked at me perplexed and said, It’s not about age. It’s about radiance.
